SQL Server BI Stack Monitoring – Part II (300)

Grzegorz Stolecki

Every component of SQL Server analytical stack provides its own monitoring components. You have logs, dynamic management views, system views, traces, extended events and performance counters. A lot of information. But how to efficiently collect, store and analyse all this stuff? Ready made (and mostly no free) tools can give you some predefined reports, but not from every area you want. So, time to build your very own solution. During the session I’ll show how to collect and transform performance data from different sources, how to build monitoring database and how to use Power BI (yes, yes, again… of course you can use Excel too) to make some valuable reports.
